In this economic climate, some of us simply can't afford to book a nail appointment every 3 weeks.Yes, I know its depressing but have no fear, there are ways you can get professional looking nails at home.

Yea, I know...it's a headache but continue reading. I'm gonna let you in on some tips and tricks so that you NAIL that DIY Manicure.

Tip #1

Applying nail polish like a pro. It's all in the wrist and a steady hand. Follow the steps in the diagram below and your nails will come out like a fresh set of professionally done nails.

Tip #2

Protecting your skin from straying nail polish strokes. Before applying nail polish put the Aquaphor or Vaseline around the nail and if you go off the nail bed simply wipe it and it comes straight off.

Tip #3

Use ice water to dry your nails in three minutes. It sounds crazy but it works my friends, let me tell you how.Nail polish dries when it encounters cool temperatures, it also helps to protect against divots since it helps solidify polish all the way through, not just on top.

Tip #4

Fixing a Broken Nail. We've all been there, finally getting the length you wanted and then in the blink of an eye you see a break in the corner of your nail. Now you don't need to panic, because there's a simple way to mend that nail and your heart. All you need is teabag and nail glue.

Here's a short tutorial on how to fix your broken nail

Tip #5

Fixing smudged Nail Polish. We sometimes don't wait until our nail polish is dried before we start doing stuff and that can cause smudging which is a headache. However, you can fix this by licking it.

Lol I know it doesn't sound safe but remember you're licking and NOT eating. You simply lick your finger and gently smooth the smudge out. The saliva reacts with the nail polish to soften and blend the surface.

Before and After Licking

Tip #6

Don't sit near a fan. This basically speaks for itself, but let me elaborate. You may think it helps to dry the nail polish faster but it doesn't.In fact, it will just make bubbles and ruin your polish.

Tip #7

Erasing mistakes. When doing nails on your own as a beginner, you may make mistakes. So to make it a bit easier so you don't have to start all over, simply dip a tiny brush into nail polish remover and that makes it much easier to remove.

Remember guys, the key is to have healthy good looking nails that you're satisfied with. It's okay to mess up but hopefully, these 7 tips have helped you out.
